Deutsche Bank looks to buy back senior bonds, says FT

Deutsche Bank's co-chief executive John Cryan has this week referred to the bank as ‘rock solid' but the FT is reporting on plans for the bank to buy back senior debt in order to help shore up its balance sheet.

If Deutsche were issuing equity to buy senior debt, that would be respectable. But they're burning cash for the repurchase. They're picking up points (of discount on the senior debt) in front of an oncoming freight train.
