Isda publishes draft CDS docs after buy-side pressure

Isda has caved in to buy-side pressure to publish a draft of the proposed new credit derivative definitions

But I'd imagine that new CDS definitions would apply only to new trades. Existing trades should keep the definitions prevailing at trade date. Is that wrong?!
