Redding Ridge wins four as CSAM retains CLO manager of the year crown
Redding Ridge Asset Management collected four trophies at the Creditflux CLO Manager Awards on Tuesday night, but the prestigious Manager of the Year award was retained by Credit Suisse Asset Management, which has cemented its position as the most successful manager at the Creditflux awards.

Hosted by acclaimed journalist Krishnan Guru-Murthy, the awards dinner was staged at London’s Landmark Hotel with 360 CLO market participants in attendance. This followed the Creditflux CLO Symposium which welcomed over 600 people at the same venue, in what marked our most successful events ever.
Andrew Marshak, head of CSAM’s European CLO business, was on hand to pick up the Manager of the Year trophy and joked that he had learned his lesson from the previous year.
“I’m glad Creditflux put out the nominations ahead of time so I knew to stick around,” he said, referring to how he had missed out on picking up the same award last year after stepping out of the room at an inopportune moment.
The manager of the year is measured across the entire suite of a managers CLOs globally, and therefore rewards consistent above-market performance. Angelo Gordon, Brigade, GoldenTree and PGIM were finalists in this category.
CSAM also took the award for best European CLO (Madison Park Euro Funding V) and this takes its overhaul of Creditflux awards to 17, four ahead of second-placed Guggenheim Investments. CSAM stands alone with most manager of the year titles: 2013, 2018, 2021 and 2022.

Redding Ridge (a unit of Apollo Global Management) came up short in the Manager of the Year reckoning, but nonetheless it ended the evening with more silverware than anyone else. The firm scooped up wins in the categories for best new European CLO (RRE 7), best US CLO (RR 12), best redeemed US CLO (RR 10) and best redeemed European CLO (ALME Funding II). This takes Redding Ridge/Apollo’s overall tally of Creditflux awards to seven.
Alongside its own CLO platform, Apollo seeds third-party CLO issuers and one of these partners was successful as Diameter won the award for best non-traditional CLO for the bond-flex deal known as Diameter Credit Funding II. Apollo has backed the firm's regular CLOs, rather than its bond-flex deals.
In one of the most popular wins on the night, Sound Point Capital Management’s head of structured products Ujjaval Desai collected the award for best CLO fund for Sound Point Harbour Fund. Desai told the audience how much the award meant to him and later explained to Creditflux he recalled picking up the same award in 2011 when he was at Indicus Advisors, noting how things had come full circle.
Brigade Capital Management and Spire Partners also had nights to remember, picking up the trophies for best US CLO manager and best European CLO manager, respectively. Cerberus Capital Management dominated the mid-market CLO scene, picking up wins for best new mid-market, CLO best mid-market CLO and mid-market CLO manager of the year.
On the CLO investor side, Oxford Funds secured the double, with Debdeep Maji and Jonathan Cohen on hand to pick up trophies for best public closed-end CLO fund and best private closed-end CLO fund.

Best private closed-end CLO fund | Oxford Funds | Oxford Bridge II |

Host Guru-Murthy kept the audience entertained throughout, encouraging winners to put meaningful messages into their acceptance speeches.
“Please give these poor Creditflux journalists a headline,” he pleaded.
Guru-Murthy also thanked the audience for their attendance and the sponsors for supporting the Creditflux Manager Awards. In doing so, he disclosed that his appearance fee will be donated to a charity dedicated to the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. He is set to participate in the Duchenne dash, a bike ride from London to Paris next month to support this cause.
Creditflux would like to congratulate all the winners from last night’s event and everyone who attended for making it a memorable evening.
