Barclays Capital has announced today that it has established a new Swiss franc syndicate, sales and trading team in Zurich able to provide Swiss franc bond issuance, sales and credit trading for its clients. This new capability will complement Barclays Capital’s existing credit business in Switzerland.
Kuno Kennel, head of distribution, Switzerland at Barcap, is responsible for developing Barclays Capital's domestic Swiss franc capital markets business and will oversee these operations from the firm's Zurich office. Kennel will work with Bob Mabon and Andreas Glaus, directors of investment banking, Switzerland at the bank.
Kennel joined Barcap in March from Royal Bank of Scotland, where he was country head for Switzerland, following the merger with ABN Amro. Previously Kennel was at ABN Amro for over 10 years where he held a similar role, with responsibilities for building the bank’s Swiss francs capital markets franchise.
In addition, Barcap has appointed Martin Meili as head of Swiss franc syndicate, Reto Meyer as head of Swiss franc sales and Beda Emmenegger, as head of Swiss franc trading in Zurich. Meili and Meyer both join from RBS where they were, respectively, head of Swiss franc syndicate and head of Swiss franc fixed income sales. Emmenegger joins from Credit Suisse, where he was most recently a senior credit trader.
