Not all former CDO bankers go on to become consultants or brokers.

Kevin Stocklin, former head of CDOs at BNP Paribas, started a career in the movies after leaving the French bank. In 2008, he established his own film production company, Second Act Films.

The company has since produced three narrative films and a documentary, “We All Fall Down: The American Mortgage Crisis” that has won a number of awards.

In addition to beefing up his production experience, Stocklin has also written and/or directed some of the releases.

“This was something that I have wanted to do for a long time,” he says.

Trust credit traders to get excited by blood and guts. A clip that went viral on many trading floors last month was of the particularly unpleasant goring of a Spanish matador.

No prizes for guessing what parallel they drew with the state of the market.

Several London-based structured credit specialists have (as we reported last month) recently joined the UK’s Asset Protection Agency, which has job ads on its website boasting that it offers up to 30 days annual holiday plus an extra day for the Queen’s birthday.

Although the agency is not thought to be a particularly generous payer, the high calibre of these recent hires suggests that (a) some structured credit professionals have a yen to celebrate with Her Majesty, (b) that they would like to improve their work/life balance or (c) that there is a dearth of lucrative positions for people with their skills.

If having a holiday on the Queen's birthday is a big drawcard why not emigrate to Australia where it is an official public holiday for everyone - and the streets don't close for the trooping of the colour
