Hungary follows Portugal in fall from investment grade

Friday, November 25, 2011

Hungary was yesterday downgraded by Moody's from Baa3 to Ba1 removing its investment grade status.

The move to ‘junk’ status reflects the sovereigns high debt ratio and the uncertainty surrounding the governments ability to meet its fiscal and debt reduction targets.

The downgrade follows Portugal’s downgrade earlier in the day by Fitch.
