Bank of America has promoted Alastair Borthwick to co-head global capital markets alongside Merrill Lynch executive Lisa Carnoy. According to a press release, the decision follows the appointment of former post holder Bruce Thompson to the role of chief risk officer.
Rupert Hume-Kendall has also been appointed as chairman of the business and is expected to work closely with Borthwick and Carnoy. All are based in New York.
Borthwick was previously head of investment grade capital markets. He joined BoA as a managing director in 2005 from Goldman Sachs. At Goldman his roles included management and strategy for the fixed income, currencies and commodities division and head of European portfolio credit (cash and synthetic CDOs). He also worked in special situations, debt capital markets and syndicate.
Carnoy most recently worked on global equity and equity linked capital markets.
