Boston-based investment manager State Street Global Advisors has announced the appointment to its global fixed income team of six senior executives, of which three are new additions. All will report to Mark Marinella, the firm’s newly appointed global fixed income CIO.
Among the hires, Tom Hagstrom joins from RBS Greenwich Capital, where he was managing director and a founding member of the credit business. At State Street he will be global head of fixed income business management and chief operating officer, with oversight of all processes, transactions and deliverables.
Previously, Hagstrom worked for State Street Research and Management where he was head trader and member of the fixed income leadership group. His responsibilities there also included investment management in the emerging markets group. Earlier in his career, Hagstrom held executive positions with Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse.
Also joining State Street’s investment managing arm are William Cunningham and Brett Wander. Cunningham joins from State Street’s global markets group and has been appointed global head of credit strategies and fixed income research. Wander joins from Loomis Sayles, where he led fixed-income alpha strategies. He takes a similar role globally at State Street.
Meanwhile current executives John Kirby and Kevin Anderson step up to co-lead global fixed income beta solutions. Anderson will also co-lead European and pan-Asian regions with SSgA veteran William Street. Previously Street headed international rates along with the global credit function. He joined SSgA in 2007 from Unicredit, where he was head of fixed income and proprietary trading.
As of 31 December SSgA reckons to manage more than $259 billion in fixed income assets. The firm’s global fixed income team consists of more than 65 professionals worldwide.
