BNP Paribas Investment Partners has announced that it has hired Martin Fridson as its global credit strategist within its credit investments business. Fridson, who will continue to be based in New York, previously ran his own independent credit research firm, Fridson Investment Advisors. Before that, he worked in credit research for a number of sell-side firms including Salomon Brothers, Morgan Stanley and Merrill Lynch.
He joins the global credit team, which employs 22 credit analysts, and which is led by Maryam Muessel in New York. Her team, which was previously a unit of Fortis Investment Management, became part of BNP Paribas Investment Partners in April as part of the French bank’s gradual absorption of much of Fortis. Muessel in turn reports to Paris-based fixed income chief investment officer Nicolas Chaput, who is of BNP Paribas Asset Management heritage.
